UNTOUCHABLE

Ria Hartley Presents from Bristol

AT THE ALBANY

8pm
Price: £12, £10 concs

‘Growing up in the ‘90s, in a violent home on an East Midlands council estate, wasn't what I would have chosen for an upbringing. But who gets to choose?’

Untouchable is a piece about hope, endurance and survival. It's about finding the courage to speak out. It's about the often hidden realities of everyday life that happen behind closed doors.

Whilst tender and courageous, this piece has guts and grit offering an insight into a complex multi-racial family living in a world of abuse. Untouchable looks hopefully at recovery for a family in constant negotiation with the repercussions of a violent history. Each performance will be followed by a Q&A with creator and performer, Ria Hartley.

A Contact Flying Solo Commission, developed with support from Apples & Snakes, Nimble Fish and the Albany.

Running Time: 60 mins

PROGRAMMER'S NOTE

As both creator and performer of powerful, emotional work, Ria made a connection with audiences here in 2013 with her first show, Matilda and Me.  Soon after, we gave Ria a cash seed commission for Untouchable and invited her back to develop this as part of our Hatched platform for new ideas; we are delighted to be having the finished piece 'come home'.
